Jupiter Ascending Movie Review: Unexpected Girl Apparently Princess of Space
Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) is an orphan girl born to a Russian family, where her father was killed by robbers while her mother was pregnant. She was later raised by her mother and aunt and has grown up to be a woman. However, he feels that his daily life does not seem very pleasant, because he has to work with his family as a cleaning worker in the homes of the rich.
He did not realize that it seemed that he had been targeted to be killed by an extraterrestrial creature. Once upon a time in a clinic, when Jupiter was planning to sell his eggs for money, suddenly he was attacked by a group of aliens who were sent to kill his life. Luckily he is saved by Caine (Channing Tatum), a former intergalactic warrior and with his partner Stinger, he is taken to his master's residence far from planet Earth.
Only then did Jupiter know that the Earth he lives on is only a small part of the life that is scattered in the space universe. Even the Earth has been made into an industrial commodity and the people who live are just clones that are made into cows for the owners of the original genes who live for the sake of eternity of the original gene owners who live in outer space.
Then why would Jupiter want to be killed and then saved by Caine? Jupiter is the reincarnation of a space ruler queen who since billions of years ago has owned planet Earth. While the queen's children are fighting for power to become the heir to the throne and owner of the planet earth. As such, Jupiter becomes an important player in the salvation of the Earth which has been used as a cloning farm for thousands of years. Can Jupiter save the earth as heir to the throne?
Simple Theme With Stunning Sci-fi Action
The Wachowski brothers did not seem to want to speculate by attracting young actors to play this sci-fi genre film. He drew classy actors and actresses Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis in this film. The unique thing is that the story that is presented still seems to target young people, where the conflict feels simple. The love affair between a princess and a soldier is also a case of power struggle. This film feels so dynamic with a little sense of humor. Jupiter Ascending describes how life in the vast universe also has the systems and bureaucracy of life on earth. Jupiter's character as a princess in the galaxy universe is just a cleaning worker.
Fortunately, with the selection of classy actors such as Channing Tatum and Sean Bean, Director Andy and Lana Wachowski can provide quite stunning battle scenes. Combined with 3D visual technology, the action in the film is not only an additional aspect but also one of the important points that are sold. Observers who call the Wachowskis brothers are like combining the Matrix and Star Wars films in one package.

Jupiter Ascending Review: The Matrix Style Action, Cloud Atlas Style Epic!
Despite appearing as charming as The Matrix, Jupiter Ascending does not convey the deep moral message in the Cloud Atlas.
This film has a lot of funds and was heralded to become the best-selling film, but it turns out that the quality visual and special effects of this film ended without giving any meaningful marks. At least one thing I like most about this film is the many exciting battles. So even though the storyline is quite predictable and the love stories of the main characters are a bit rushed, a film with worldwide coverage and complex and broad characters like this should be made more full of moral messages.
Synopsis
Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under the night sky, with signs that predicted that he was destined for great things. As an adult, Jupiter dreamed of reaching the sky, but he woke up to the harsh reality that he was only a toilet cleaner and had a problem that never ended. When Jupiter meets Caine (Channing Tatum), a hunter who is also a former military member with genes engineered from another planet, Jupiter only realizes that he is an important figure in the universe, he is the future Queen of all the planets in the universe. It's just that Jupiter's path to becoming Queen is not easy when the ruling leader of the Galaxy wants Jupiter to die.
Review
I must say this film is quite different from other science fiction films. This film tells a story that smells of telenovelas, filled with elements of intrigue and drama, then spiced with a series of adventure actions. Also, I will not bother with the simple storyline and not going anywhere. This film shows how the director lightly criticizes the bureaucratic life which is funny and wordy. Unfortunately, the depiction is the same as the bureaucracy that exists on earth as if the extraterrestrials are humans rather than aliens, making this film full of visuals and special effects that are no joke but the story is not far from everyday human life.
There are many deficiencies in this film, especially the correlation between one moment and the next. Although there are dialogues that hopefully elicit laughter from the audience, these have not been very successful for me. To be sure, this film at least presents exciting battles with sophisticated, futuristic weapons and vehicles. I am spoiled with a very charming appearance. The director is indeed famous for their detail and aesthetic value in the visualization that spoils the eye. In the end, one by one the obstacles and obstacles in this film were passed. I give the director a thumbs up in arranging the appearance of each actor, aircraft, and space building that is inspired by the ancient era on earth.
Conclusion
This film could have been made better. It's thick with action but superficial in content, making the storyline predictable. There is no development both in terms of story and character. I can say this film is a film without a plot. Not to mention that this film is like a telenovela that takes place in outer space. Don't be disappointed if you watch it because you have tried to remind it. Overall, this film was saved because of the action that spoiled the eye.
This film could be made better. If you must give a value, then I will give 6/10 on Jupiter Ascending.
