Looking at posters in theaters, I can imagine that this sequel from Godzilla will feature tons of massive action that will blow up the whole space. The poster that I saw was a poster depicting Godzilla spraying atomic rays into the sky. Dark blue dominates the entire poster, with many planes and ships circling Godzilla.

Continuing the previous story, Godzilla: King of the Monsters tells 5 years after the events of the previous film. Monarch, an organization that researches monster creatures, or is known as Titan, has been pressured by the government and military to close down its research and destroy the Titans.

One of the Monarch researchers named Dr. Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga) succeeded in making a device called Orca which was able to transmit frequencies that only Titan could hear. When he used the tool to tame one of the Titans, a dark organization led by Alan Jonah (Charles Dance) managed to attack and kidnap Emma and her daughter, Madison Russell (Millie Bobby Brown).

After the attack, another Monarch researcher, Dr. Ishiro Serizawa (Ken Watanabe) and Dr. Vivienne Graham (Sally Hawkins) decides to visit Emma Russell's ex-husband, Dr. Mark Russell (Kyle Chandler) who is also a researcher.

Not only that, the problem is that the Orca tool also awakens a Titan being named Monster Zero. Monster Zero is one of the strongest Titans who managed to awaken other Titans in all corners of the world and became the king of the Titans.

With a story line like, I quickly think that the stars of this film are the Titans, while the actors and actresses who star in this film are only supporting roles that only help this storyline to progress and develop.

What is really unfortunate is that even though it has an interesting plot on paper, it fails when executed. Two hours long, Godzilla: King of the Monsters failed to build up the momentum, which ultimately made the film feel like it was in a rush to continue its story.

Not only is the plot messy, but the players also don't succeed in lifting the story of this film to the size of the Titans who often appear on the big screen. The very poor character development is also one of the reasons why this film feels like a carousel that keeps turning.

However, that doesn't mean Godzilla: King of the Monsters is a bad movie. This film promises a great fight and they are not lying. The powerful visual effects, the enormous size of the Titan, to the soundtrack that makes the audience stunned make every battle scene in this film very bombastic, even if half of the film is spent presenting the battle between Titan and Titan (Honestly, the humans in the film it had less influence over the giants).

One of the factors that I like about this film is that they don't just put Titans in the world for no reason, but provide a background for why the Titans were in the world even before humans lived. Of course maybe some aspects of Titan itself sound beyond human reasoning, but keep in mind that you will be watching a film that tells of a giant creature that shoots a laser.

This film by director Michael Dougherty may not have a storyline and character development that is as good as the prequel, but Godzilla: King of the Monsters is able to present very large, very tense, and of course more battles, and that's enough for me. who realized that I hadn't been drinking or blinking at any time the fight scene started.

And Godzilla: King of the Monsters also puts hope in me that the next film, Godzilla vs. Kong , where the Godzilla will meet Kong from the film Kong: Skull Island will also present an extraordinary battle of the two heroes.
