In most sports, competition is a continuous spectacle. Whether it's a football match or a hapkido championship, the viewer can see the entire competitive process at any time. Of course, in some cases, how much money he paid for tickets plays a role: the review can be a little better or a little worse. But at races, regardless of the ticket price, it is usually impossible to see the entire competition. Usually there is no such sector in the stands, from where a view of the entire track would open.

In this regard, the most spectacular are the circuit races. On them, the viewer will periodically see cars rushing past him, and on special screens he will be shown the most exciting moments of the competition carefully captured by cameras.

If the viewer got to the rally-raid, then even that will be inaccessible to him. Participants in the race will only once zip past him and hide behind the nearest hill. In this sense, if you approach the Moscow Ring Road after the end of the working day, you can feel a much greater intensity of passions and experience an incomparably stronger adrenaline rush. But rally-raids can last for several weeks. As a result, even for a devoted fan watching the competition will be associated not with the roar of engines and the skill of the pilots, but with watching the news feed. What could be more boring?

Nevertheless, tens of millions of people are fans of auto racing, major competitions easily attract sponsors and advertisers, and the world's most prominent companies are eager to create their own racing teams.

Trade engine

On the one hand, the diversified participation of large companies in auto racing is quite understandable. First of all, advertising. Second, auto racing is a great way to test your products under high stress.

For example, Gazpromneft - Lubricants has been cooperating with MAZ-SPORTavto since 2014. As part of this partnership, a service for testing oils was developed and implemented: the company receives full information about the operation of the product right on the race track with the help of a special mobile laboratory G-Energy. For this, one drop of working oil is enough.

Mobile laboratory engineers conduct research every day throughout the motorsport competition. They monitor the dynamics of changes in the oils used, as well as the content of metals in them. And it's not just about the oil in the engine. The company poured oils of its own production into transmissions, power steering, gearboxes and transfer cases of both "combat" vehicles and technical support vehicles.

At the last Dakar-2019 rally-marathon, the team tested a new product - all-season, fully synthetic Gazpromneft Diesel Ultra 10W-40 engine oil, produced using its own Group III base oils.

Tests carried out on race tracks will further develop the product range. The best developments are involved in the production of consumer oils.

But auto racing does not only serve as a training ground and advertising platform for individual products. They can advertise entire fuel destinations. So, there is a galaxy of electric car races. The most famous of them is Formula E. But it is much more interesting and revealing if a vehicle running on an alternative motor fuel competes with gasoline and diesel classmates. in rally-raids, it has been successfully reaching the finish line. Keeping track of the race is not an easy task in itself in the tough conditions of racing competition. For example, in 2017, 87 participants started as part of the Africa Eco Race (a transcontinental marathon from Europe to Africa), and 63 of them reached the finish line. The gas-fueled KAMAZ then took fourth place in its group. And last year, his crew took first place at the rally "Kazakhstan - 2018".

But such projects could hardly exist and have any noticeable effect from investments for business, if auto racing did not attract the attention of millions of people.

Trinity

The example of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, the oldest and one of the most famous car races in the world, is very, very indicative. A glance at it will allow us to better understand how the races draw crowds of fans.

"Le Manu" is very little left until its centenary - the first "24 hours" were held in 1923. Traditionally, dozens of teams compete on suburban tracks - Sarta and Bugatti.

Such a long-standing adherence to traditions can be compared with the rules of drama of the period of classicism, which are called the trinity. The unity of the place is Le Mans, the unity of time is 24 hours and the unity of action is the race. But adherence to the basic rules only helps to build the skeleton of the work. The filling is different. And the point is not only that each race is not like the previous one, but also that in less than a hundred years the power of the engines has grown, more durable and at the same time lightweight materials have appeared, and the speeds have increased.
