LOST BULLET or The French and the Furious

Netflix actually has a lot of very interesting and hidden B- action films . Lost Bullet , a film from France, is one of the newest examples that I happen to know not from social media because Netflix does very rarely promote films like this, but coincidentally because I found it while digging into Netflix. The story is simple and the action is really fun making this 90 minute film quite effective.

Lost Bullet is a film that looks like theNetflixB-  action film I really love,  Wheelman , where the main source of the film's action comes from vehicles. Maybe it's still not as thrilling as  Wheelman , but  Lost Bullet still manages to provide fast car action and there are even some fighting scenes that are fun to watch. This is what if Fast & Furious was  set in France and had a smaller budget.

As I said before, the story in this film directed by Guillaume Pierret is quite simple. One prisoner, Lino (Alban Lenoir), is employed by a police unit tasked with catching go fast. “Go fast” is the name for a criminal who uses a fast car to carry drugs and escape from the police. I don't know if there really is such a thing in France, but the term is cool so I have no problem with it.

Lino catches the attention of the police because he is a mechanic for a really fast car, and the police need his help to help improve the performance of their car so that it can match or even faster than the criminals "go fast" who are really difficult to catch. This police unit consists of Charas (Ramzy Bedia) who has been friends with Lino; Julia (Stéfi Celma) who has a relationship with Lino; Areski (Nicolas Duvauchelle) and Marco (Sébastien Lalanne) are thirsty for adrenaline.

One day, when Charas surprises Lino by giving a letter stating that Lino will get out of prison sooner, Charas is killed by corrupt police Areski and Marco and leaves Lino to defend himself from the police who think that he was the one who killed Charas. Simple, right? This is like an action  film  where the main character is accused of what he did not do and has to prove his innocence.

The story is quite simple, so this film should focus more on the action. Unfortunately, the action in the film doesn't happen very often which ends up trapping me with the drama that doesn't work and isn't as exciting as the scuffling action. This film actually has enough material to spark emotions, especially with the relationship between Lino and Charas which ends in tragedy, but perhaps the lack of execution resulted in the death of the scene.

When viewed with  Wheelman (I really liked the film and that's all I can think of at the moment), Lost Bullet's drawback  may also be that it wanted to be too heavy with character development but not very successful due to its too straight and clunky dialogue. In contrast to Wheelman, who never preoccupies giving an injection of adrenaline to the audience, with almost the entire film set in the main character's car at night which adds to his gripping atmosphere.

The action is not as much as I expected, but when the film enters the action section  , then the energy of  Lost Bullet is really felt. Even the initial scene has shown wild action, when Lino and his friend Quentin (Rod Paradot) crash their car into a diamond shop but because the turbo and brakes fail, the car breaks through four concrete walls continuously. This film is not playing games if it has entered the car scene.

Not only is the car chase scene fun, the fighting scene is also quite loud, although sometimes it doesn't make sense. There was a scene where Lino beat up a police station and ran away. It was really exciting, especially fighting. The fight was really exciting with every slam being quite hard, but I thought, "What is Lino's background so that he can be that strong?" Not only was he an expert at driving fast cars, but he was apparently quite adept at reaching out to groups of cops at once. Indeed, the more you think about it, the more it makes no sense, but  Lost Bullet is indeed a film that you don't need to think about too much. Just wait and enjoy every action.
