Minister Aníbal Torres puts Alberto Fujimori in humanitarian pardon in debate
The declaration of the Minister of Justice, Aníbal Torres, on the possibility of evaluating a humanitarian pardon to the inmate Alberto Fujimori has generated a stir in the Executive, Legislative, in parties such as Peru Libre and Fuerza Popular, as well as in organizations that defend human rights.
Most of them agree on the need for him to submit to an independent medical board to evaluate his real state of health, taking into account that the standards for receiving this benefit are high according to the IACHR, due to the fact that he has a conviction for crimes against humanity, due to the massacres in Barrios Altos and La Cantuta.
It was the head of Justice who left that possibility open by stating that Fujimoris health situation has worsened considerably. "A board of doctors has to examine him and if the disease is so serious, of course it is possible to think of a humanitarian pardon." Photo: Presidency of the Republic.
