Aircraft Leasing
Many airlines cannot afford to buy planes, helicopters and other equipment. The cost of one, even the smallest aircraft, starts from several million dollars, and for full-fledged work, you will need a whole fleet of aviation equipment. This is where leasing comes to the rescue - rent with the right to purchase. You can rent not only the aircraft, but also all the necessary equipment and infrastructure.
Types of leasing
Aircraft rental is very common due to the high cost of such equipment. There are three types of leasing:
Operating. The contract is concluded for a period of up to 10 years, most often when updating the fleet or creating a new aviation company. There are two types of operating lease:
dry - only the aircraft is rented, without infrastructure and personnel, for a period of 2 years or more;
wet — aviation equipment is rented together with all the necessary equipment for up to 2 years. As a rule, such an agreement is concluded with a sharp increase in load, passing an inspection or opening new route flights.
Financial. A more complex form of leasing, in which the lessor first buys equipment through collateral and financing by issuing shares, and only then leases it to the recipient. The recipient is responsible for maintenance and repairs. This type of leasing is available only to companies with a high credit rating, and serious sanctions are provided for violation of the terms of the contract. The advance payment is from 10%.
Returnable. A relatively new option for Russia, here the lessee himself negotiates with the manufacturer of aviation equipment and applies to the leasing company.
When registering an operating lease, requirements are imposed on the condition of the vessel - age up to 15 years, proper condition, compliance of the model with the type of activity of the recipient.
Features of the execution of the contract depend on the type of aviation equipment. If a mainline aircraft is being leased, the recipient must provide a valid air operator certificate and proof of sound financial standing. If we are talking about commercial vehicles, it can be leased to medium-sized companies that have been operating for more than a year and can confirm their financial condition.
Advantages of aircraft leasing
Compared to other forms of lending, aircraft leasing provides airlines with many advantages:
flexible payment schedule;
available amount of advance payment;
savings by reducing income taxes and VAT refunds;
the ability to reduce the amount of property tax due to accelerated depreciation;
the possibility of buying out a rented vessel at the lowest cost.

When you once again see the presentation of a new airliner, don’t you get a feeling of deja vu, don’t you think that every time a plane is rolled out of the hangar, which you have already seen many times before?
On Monday, the Paris Air Show Le Bourget opens, where the latest innovations in the aviation market will be presented. 2017 is generally rich in premieres - it was only in May that the Russian MC-21 and the Chinese C919 took off for the first time, and the Boeing 737MAX and A321NEO are already reaching their first customers.
But if you erase the identification marks and liveries from all these aircraft, can you distinguish one from the other on the airfield? The photo at the end of this paragraph shows an Airbus A320 and a Boeing 737. Can you figure out which is which without using the Internet? We are used to the fact that the planes are similar to each other, however, it turns out that this was not always the case. In the first decades after the Second World War - during the heyday of civil aviation - each passenger aircraft had its own "face".
1950s, Caravelle, Tu-104, Boeing 707, Comet - each of them could be recognized by its unique silhouette. In the 1960s and 70s, the sky was also more colorful: Il-62, Boeing 727, Tu-154. All of them were easily distinguishable from each other even at a great distance. See how different they were: So what happened? Everything is very simple. It seems that aircraft designers around the world have found the optimal shape of the aircraft. In aviation, there is no design for the sake of beauty (well, perhaps a little bit) - every little thing has its own explanation and justification.
The BBC Russian service asked aviation experts, including representatives of the world's largest aircraft manufacturing corporations Boeing and Airbus, to explain the design features of modern airliners.
Why does an airplane have wings on the bottom?
Let's start with the wings. When an aircraft has them at the bottom of the fuselage, it is called a "low wing". The vast majority of passenger aircraft are low-wing aircraft.
