The Wayne Series Synopsis And Review

Is that Wayne? Before explaining further, it is necessary to underline that it is never too late to watch quality shows. Especially if you look at the current viewing culture trend, because it supports many streaming platforms and the impact of the pandemic, the most popular series of shows now are not only dominating new shows, they may actually be controlled by old film and serial titles.

In a very dense landscape of television series, it is possible to miss a series title which, when viewed, is the complete viewing package that has been sought. The reason could be due to the lack of publication about this title because it is closed by other more bona fide series titles or because of a less popular platform. That's what happened to the Wayne series, which incidentally was released in 2019.

The author's introduction to this series is also a coincidence. Starting from watching the trailer for Tom Holland's latest film, Cherry, curiosity about the actress who plays his love interest character led to the discovery of this epic series whose episodes are around half an hour.

From the duo of writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland ) who collaborated with Shawn Simmons, producing one of the best TV series that deserves more attention. Initially thought that the title was a story about Batman's alter ego (Bruce Wayne-ed), but it turned out to be completely unrelated.

Wayne (Mark McKenna) is a rebellious high school student with a heart of gold, because he almost always can't help himself when he sees injustice. After his father's death, triggered by his father's last message and a photo, Wayne decided to travel far. The goal is to reclaim his father's favorite Pontiac Trans Am, which his mother and her new lover took away.

Wayne is not alone, before leaving, he meets Del (Ciara Bravo), a young girl who lives with her abusive father and two annoying brothers. Del wanted to accompany Wayne on the trip, because it was his way of escaping the pressure from his family. Using a motorbike, the journey of the two young people begins, which brings many bloody adventures that are very cruel but often also provoke laughter.

This is because both of them are being pursued by Del's father and his two siblings, the local police, as well as the principal and Wayne's best friend, each of whom has their own agenda. Not to mention, it was later revealed that the car that was being hunted was gifted by the mother's new lover to her only son, the head of an eccentric gang who owns a pet crocodile.

The existence of Reese and Wernick thematically makes Wayne's character have many clear similarities to Merc with a Mouth - notably that he can take a beating and bruises, and can't hold back for justice's sake. The action is brutal, the level of ultraviolence varies in almost all of the 10 episodes, making this series not for everyone.

McKenna (Sing Street) and Bravo put on a slick performance that made Wayne really attractive, and helped the audience easily sympathize with him that he was a true hero. The rhythm of the journey that is poured into each episode allows us to see Wayne and Del facing all kinds of obstacles, memories and enemies in different places, and the direction gives a unique gloomy and beautiful appearance, in addition to the brilliant battle choreography, makes this series stand out.

Wayne's formula is somewhat similar to Netflix's The End of the F *** ing World series, but in Wayne the levels of vulgarity, violence, and absurdity are maximally escalated. If you enjoy The Boys' dark humor and satire, love the vigilante anti-hero action of The Punisher and John Wick, be sure to check out this series.

Wayne was originally available on YouTube Premium. Unfortunately, even though it received very positive appreciation (until now on the RottenTomatoes site, the rating of this series still reaches a perfect rating of 100% -red), the switch of YouTube from the original content script, made Wayne, whose ending is hanging, has no further story.

But Wayne is now also available on Amazon, hopefully more people will find it, like Cobra Kai when the first two seasons were shown on Netflix, so that later this brutal comedy action series that is very entertaining will have a sequel in the future. So if you see Wayne and like him, make sure you make a lot of noise and hopefully find new space to develop and connect with a large audience it deserves.
