Honda Cars India has released the monthly sales numbers for February 2022, during which the carmaker's total sales stood at 9,524 units. Compared to 10,311 units sold during the same month in 2021, Honda saw a year-on-year decline of 7.6 per cent. At the same time, compared to the 12,149 vehicles sold in January 2022, Honda Cars India witnessed a much higher month-on-month decline of 21.6 per cent. Honda says that the ongoing shortage of semiconductor chips has affected vehicle production, subsequently impacting despatches to dealers as well. Commenting on the company's sales performance, Yuichi Murata, Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, "We are witnessing improvement in consumer sentiment as COVID-19 situation seems to be tapering off and markets are opening-up. This is positive for the industry. On the supply side, chip shortage continued to impact our production and despatches in Feb'22. We hope the situation improves in future so that we can meet the market demand more effectively".
